Lovely Evening
What a lovely evening.
I spent the morning kicking around the apartment...I slept late (9:30-late for me) and then spent most of the day puttering. Mopped the floors, washed the dishes, that kind of thing. Nothing terribly exciting. Walked around the neighborhood for a while, took a nap, petted the dog.
So, this evening I decided to get out. I walked around the neighborhood a bit. Stopped in the Pavanna Gallery and talked to Timothy, the owner for a bit. I bought some great "Art Whore" postcards and some cool glass beads. I am not sure what I will do with them yet, but I think they have potential.
Then I walked over to 806 to grab one of Matthew's perfect Martinis. It was busy but not overwhelmingly crowded, and I found a seat at the bar between two girlfriends and I man and a woman that Matthew apparently knew. The girls next to me seemed rather appalled that I left my drink choice up to M ("What are you having, Kelly?" and I said, "Your choice, tonight.") I know that he makes the most brilliant drinks in Cleveland, so it wasn't a real leap of faith to ask him what he felt like making. That aside...I settled in with my Cosmo and decided that I should probably eat something. I am glad I did. I had the MOST wonderful caviar and pate dish. It was red and black caviar on top of a rich "creme freche" served with a crisp baguette and a tasty smoked oyster and trout pate. I was in heaven.
I met some interesting people, too...The couple that Matthew knew was nice. Actually, the guy was kind of a bore-all he wanted to talk about was Billy Blanks, if you can believe it. The girl, Rebecca, however was rather sweet, and I found her much more interesting than him. They left to go to Parallax, and I thought about joining them for a while, but didn't. After they left, another couple came in and sat to my right. Two men-one a keyboardist for some band that is big in Europe, to hear him tell it, and his partner, who is a writer. I liked the other guy better-the writer. The keyboard guy was nice, but a little too "look at me" for my taste. They also live here in Tremont, and it was nice to meet some more of the neighbors.
I finished the meal with an espresso, and called it a night. I stopped at Professor Market for a Creme Soda and walked home.
It was a quiet, lovely evening.
